Is there any legal way of changing names of who owns the house without going through the mortgage company?

Hi Everyone,
I split up with my boyfriend who i bought a house with, i don't want the house and haven't paid the mortgage for a while, i haven't aske dfor any money either, just want it out of my hair. My ex wants to keep the house, but as he is now self employed doesn't think the halifax will let him take it on without my name still being on the mortgage. Is there anything legal that can be done on paper without changing the mortgage details?.
Any help will be gratefull received.
Thanks,
Sophie.

If the mortgage payments are not made, you will be equally responsible whether you live there or not.
Your boyfriend is being unreasonable. He should sell it, or find somebody else to share the mortgage with.

i thought so hc4361, seems the only way really is to get solicitors involved, i can't sell without his permission. He doesn't see why i'm bothered about my name still being on the mortgage, wants to just carry on with the situation as it is but i'm worried if he doesn't make the mortgage payments they'll come after me too...
You need to get an order for sale from the court if he refuses to sell.
Unless he has dependent children living there or has had the house adapted for a particular disability this order will be granted.
The courts consider it unjust for one party to be tethered to a mortgage they get no benefit from, unable to get access to the equity in the property so they can get another home for the sole benefit of an able bodied ex with no dependants.
You need to get on to it as soon as you can. Who knows if he will have a pregnant wife living there within the next few months.
