Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

1) A group of aeroplanes is based on a small island. The tank of each holds just enough fuel to take it halfway around the world. Any desired amount of fuel can be transferred from the tank of one plane to the tank of another while in flight. The only source of fuel is on the island, and for the purposes of the problem it is assumed that there is no time taken in transferring fuel either in the air or on the ground.
What is the smallest number of planes that will ensure the flight of one plane around the world on a great circle, assuming that all the planes have the same constant ground speed and fuel consumption and that all the planes return safely to their bases
2) Same problem but a full tank takes a plane only a quarter of the way around.
3) According to the Bible, what was the earliest banking transaction?

2) I regret asking this now. My planes keep crashing all over the planet because there are too many for me to keep track of. I will believe anything anbody says (almost)

3) This is a riddle, quite old and rather silly - just like me, really. I'll tell you Tuesday evening.
