I know it's early to ask but now I've reached the frustrating phase with this great quiz where I can't get these answers no matter how hard I try. I only want pointers, not the answers and would be very happy to return the favour.

mtsgirl the first letters are THOUGH (despite) and T then second word starts with R so yuo are looking for a word TR?????? which means walking/plodding/going up stairs(treads). Off to bed with a good kindle now. Good luck.
mtsgirl the first part is THOUGHT (despite=though plus T borrowed from the second word). The second word is walking/plodding/going up stairs (treads) so (T) R??????. Think ESP/telepathy. Off to bed now with a good kindle. Good luck.
sorry about that - looks like I should have gone to bed ten minutes ago. LOL
Oh my word, how slow am I? At last!! Thank you....must have some of the real quiz experts gnashing their teeth at me. Now I can Kindle off to bed as well and leave the last few for tomorrow or another day.
I can think only of three possible Noels for No 36 and none of them sparks a link. Any HINTS please.
mathsman the Noel you're after is Noel Blanc. The answer is a character he voiced which fits the clues of siren then a straw hat.
Actually think it was Mel Blanc who supplied the voice, but anagram of 'Noel sent you' gives you the right connection!
Many thanks, wilycoyote and Gandalf34

Obviously I didn't have as broad an education as I thought!
Any hints, not answers please, for 75, 82 and 92?
Mathsman - for 82, look for an author within second two words.I also would appreciate hint for 92 (10 and 38) !
Thanks Iver, hadn't heard that one before. As for 10, you'll have to speak up.
Losing it again; when I typed 92 I meant 98!
Mathsman - 98 is an anagram. Deployed (=anagram) "in ten valleys" but you need a shorter, but very similar, version of valleys. Solve the anagram and look it up in Chambers and it's amazing what you discover.
Mathsman (again)
75 - abbreviation for "about" plus a type of wine and a period of time
82 - Curiouly (=anagram) "I ask" - solve the anagram to find an author and then look for a list of his most famous quotations.
Thank you Wiggers99. Still need inspirational hint for 75; I suppose that it is 'obvious', but I am unable to see in which direction to move.
Mathsman - RE 75,all WINE improves with ---(unlike us!!!)
Iver,

Unlike me, certainly. I'll go and stand in the corner! Thanks
