I live in a small two bedroomed bungalow in north Wiltshire and need to get a new replacement gas combi boiler installed. So far I’ve had a quote from an IPHE registered plumber who is also Gas Safe registered. As it’s approx twenty years since I last had a boiler fitted, I hope there are some ABers on here who may have had a new combi boiler fitted recently, and who could inform me whether they think the quote I received is a fair one.
The quotation is for £2814.00 inc VAT and includes the following:
Remove existing boiler, cylinder and cold water tanks
Installation of a Worcester Junior 28i combination boiler (airing cupboard)
Installation of a vertical flue through the rear elevation of the roof
Run gas supply to new boiler location
Flush existing heating system (required by boiler manufacturer)
Supply and install magnetic filter to protect new boiler (optional)
Supply new time clock and utilise existing room thermostat
Run condensate pipe through kitchen cabinets to sink waste
Modify heating circuit and associate pipe work
Notification of installation to building control
Considering there's £400 VAT in there, that figure is about right today. That's a lot more work than a simple boiler swap.
Do get a couple of other quotes though. It's quite an expensive area where you are, Wiltsman.
i paid approx £2,600 for almost an identical job, thought it seemed a bit to much but didnt argue as i knew the guy and the job was 100% spot on and as he knew some guys from British Gas who were up for a bit of cash it took only 2 days & and at one point there was 4 engineers wandering around the house...I also got £400 scrappage back which helped.
I have to say it was the best thing i ever did my heating bill has reduced considerably and the house has never felt warmer.....
I had my combi boiler replaced a couple of years ago - a local company charged me just over £2000.
It was a Worcester boiler like yours and it came with a six year guarantee. All I had to do was pay £70 for an annual service. I was paying British Gas £25 a month for central heating cover.

Thank you all for your comments. I get the impression the quote may be a little higher than it could be, but I'm not being ripped off. I also have to allow for the installation of a vertical flue through the rear elevation of the roof, which knowing the configuration of my bungalow, I think is acceptable. Before I place an order I will get a couple more quotations. Any more comments are still welcome. Thank you again.
