Each clue has 2 answers, one based on definition and another fro cryptic part.
You have to decide which one to enter.
In case of 1A and 4D the intersecting letter could be A or O.
How do you decide which answer to enter?

Have worked out the 'APRIL FOOL' letters and alternatives but still not clear to me which version should be entered in the grid. Any ideas please?

.. and presumably if you solved the puzzle before midday you entered the letters that spell APRIL FOOL and if you solved it later you entered the other letters.

Are you sure you have to enter the APRIL FOOL letters or omit them?

Azed says after the puzzle that 25 down is not in Chambers (2011). REDEAL is.
This suggests to me that the L in 38 across is to be omitted, and thus for the others.
