How awful, it's a miracle the pilot is alive but I fear for the lives of the motorists the plane crashed down on.

So once again innocent bystanders suffer because of the penchant of a small minority to generate the demand for these dangerous events.

Ironically stunts are never performed over the crowds in attendance for SAFETY reasons.

So the very people who wish to preserve these hazardous displays are the ones who are protected while the stunt men perform over the heads of innocent disinterested folk going about their daily business or leisure.

Shameful. Stunts should be confined to the area where the people funding the event are situated - they know the risks.

one thing is that nearby Lancing College, who owned the ex-pub there and had it converted to boys'accommodation, had insisted that the Airshow only went ahead when the school hols were on - for that very reason of safety.

How awful, just been watching on Sky News and looks like he didn't or couldn't pull up for some reason going for a loop? Not very clear on the footage though and I only have limited experience of doing aerobatics and a long time ago.

Has it been confirmed that the pilot survived? I've just seen footage of the impact and I would seriously doubt that anyone could live.

Having spent the morning in Brighton I knew there was no way to avoid the traffic jams being caused by the airshow as I headed home. So my descision was to just join the queue. I sat in traffic as it inched along for nearly 45 mins as we approached the airshow.
I'm sure I seen the jet involved as it arrived at the show and did a fly past.
A few seconds later I was at the traffic lights where the incident happened. From that point the queue ended and I got a bit of speed up. Less than five minutes later I heard of the accident on the radio.

I actually got up early to go to that airshow today but changed my mind at the last minute. (£41 rail far plus £22 admission decided me against it). I'm glad I didn't go now!

There is a hood argument that these air displays should be banned on public safety grounds.

Hardly a week goes by in the summer months without some fatally or other at air shows.
Terrible wadte of life, just to satiate the public thirst. Same with Formulae 1.
