Why on earth does the BBC think it has to fly Clive Myrie (I'm sure not Economy Class) all the way to Los Angeles just to introduce the news, when it already has two reporters reporting on the fires and other reporters elsewhere in the US who could be brought in - including a well-remunerated 'USA Editor' ?

Same thing happened for the US elections last year: up popped Clive Myrie in Washington DC.  So annoying when the BBC are pleading poverty, and I've just received their demand for its £169.50 licence fee.   What a waste of money.

Perhaps they think they will lose him if they don't give him the top jobs?

Question Author

He already has Mastermind, and recently had a paid jolly round the Caribbean over many episodes.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good reporter and good newsreader - just absoluely no need for him to be sent to LA

I'm guessing that the top newsreaders expect and get the top jobs.  Not saying it's right.

He's a bit of a simpering dweeb, in my opinion, and brings nothing unique to what he does.

Either way it's nonsense; the reporters already there have done a great job and don't need him there.

It's just the BBC being the BBC, same as whenever there is a few centimetres of snow, a crew has to go out and show us what snow looks like. They love wasting the money we have to give them.

It's because they don't give a toss about wasting licence payers' money - they think they are entitled to do so.👿

He stated last night, "I used to be the US correspondent for this area" .

Maybe a 'nostalgia' thing.

He's often sent abroad.  He's recently been reporting from Jerusalem.

Cos he's black.

Just remember black Clives matter.

Dont pay the £169.50, I havn't for years and have never looked back, so many streaming channels available with content that would take a year to get through, plus all on demand and cheaper than the BBC tax.

Now when I see an advert it looks really quaint on old tv.😁

because he needs some souvenirs/presents for his wife, Catherine. After all, he seemingly bought up Italy for her on his jolly there.
