4G Calling

I am with Tesco mobile & a few days ago I received an email telling me there are going to be network upgrades this year.  It goes on to say I need to turn on 4G Calling (VoLTE) in my settings otherwise, once the network upgrade is complete, I'll no longer be able to make or receive calls, send or receive texts, or use date without a Wi-FI connection. I am not in contract with Tesco mobile but stayed with them as I have a monthly deal I am happy with.  Around 8 or 9 months ago I bought a new Honor X6b Smartphone but when I have searched about this 4G calling, it says this phone is not compatible. I know it wasn't an expensive phone by any means but does this now mean it is next to useless when the network upgrade happens?

Your phone will be compatible

Question Author

Thanks for your reply barry1010.  The reason why I asked is because the Tesco email told me to follow the link provided and to enter my IMEI number. After doing that, it came up with a message telling me my phone was not compatible.

When your phone is not connected to WiFi do you ever see 4G where the WiFi icon usually is?

Question Author

Yes, I do

Then it is compatible.

If you rummage around in your phone settings, network, you will see 4G LTE.  That's what you need

Thank you for your help Barry

3G is being switched off nationwide so older, pre 4G phones won't work properly.  Tesco uses O2
