A Farmer weighs 98 lbs. He has 3 Melons each weighing 1lb. He is crossing a river whic has a load bearing capacity of 100 lbs.

How can he take himelf and his melons across simultaneously, without falling into the river?

Remeber, he must be transporting the Melons. No rolling, throwing etc.

Could he put one down his trousers/up his ar5e?
He eats one?
If he was clever, he could juggle with them as he crossed.
Takes off all his clothing and boots. Does the transporting. Returns for his belongings. Hey ho off to market he do go.
Take two across then go back for the other
Yeah, but tube, Blue says they all have to go simultaneously: at the same time.
juggle them then
Can he just wade across the river with the melons? Does he have to use the bridge? In fact, if you read the question carefully, there is no bridge mentioned!
How many rivers have a load bearing capacity?
Right on, BOO. Our brain tells us there must be a bridge there, but I don't see one! Any way, what time does this Melon Market close. BOO, let's wade across the blinkin river. You go first, and if something untoward happens I'll try a shallower place.

Foxway and Tube, well done. He does of course juggle them....walking across the imaginary bridge...lol
But, Blue, you said "no rolling, throwing etc". The art of juggling consists of throwing objects up in the air and catching them..
Question Author
I said he must TRANSPORT them. The act of throwing or rolling means he no longer has them. Juggling however, means he remains in control of them.
That's cheating :-(

No it's not, it's thinking outside the box ;)
We're getting a lot of bridge mileage out of this one. I thought that me getting naked, lumbering across the bridge with my melons, streaking back to get dressed, and then proceeding onto Ye Merrie Olde Melon Market was thinking 'outside the box':)

Much better to just deal with your melons :))
Ok.........it was good for a laugh..............I guess I'm jest doing the sour grape thing:)
Surely, what with gravitational forces etc, the downward force of the melons upon the recipient's hand would push the combined weight over 100lb.

Dictionary definition:
To keep (two or more objects) in the air at one time by alternately tossing and catching them.

I think you misled us somewhat.

Better if he takes a massive dump and then just carries them :)

Or throws them high and long, legs it across and catches them in a juggling manner...
eat one
