Just looked at the MOS crossword and noticed that you only have to answer 8 questions to get the prize word and can win the prize without answering any other clues. Surely that can't be right. if so it is a bit hard on those of us who enjoy the whole puzzle but still want a chance to win.

I agree with you, and also the newspapers are all at this "phone for a clue" business. MOS has now an "ask Fred" for a price of course. The Scottish Sunday Mail and Daily Record does this as well, all to make money of course. The first week this started the crossword got that little bit more difficult, or am I being paranoid?
Okay rant over!!
The main concern is that they will only choose winners from text entries as it will generate lots of money for them and save on all the post that they receive in Norwich. The Mail on Sunday wins, Royal Mail loses out on stamp sales as postal entries drop and I've just stopped buying the Mail given all the hoo-ha about Premium Rate phone numbers for competitions etc
I hadn't noticed that until I read your post. I agree that it does seem a bit unfair to those of us who enjoy doing the whole puzzle and I don't think I shall be going down that road with either a text or phone call. I am sure there will be plenty of folk who will think the same.
I also don't think I would want to help out with any answers to just the code word.
Noy yet - the questions do relate to an earlier compy as does the clsoing date so we'll ahve to wait until tomorrow when they change the parameters
above post relates to the Times compy - not sure how it ended up here after my Mos post!
I feel axactly as you do seagirl, and not bothered to complete my crossword nor will I be texting an answer.
I don't mind putting a first class stamp on my entry but no They are getting too fond of putting these premium rate numbers way am I paying 1 to enter. They are getting too fond of putting these premium rate phone numbers on the competitions.
There was a bit missing out of last post - don't know why - should have read " but no way am I paying 1 to enter".
I won the 1500 seven times but now they have changed to a phone in comp I have cancelled my MOS
But aren't they two seperate competitions? One being the Prize Crossword and the other being the Prizeword.
If this is so, what do you win for the Prizeword?

I think from reading it that it is just one competition. That is what seems so unfair
I agree with all that has been said.
I wonder if we all cancelled the Sunday Mail and see if it made a difference to there sales
Has anybody noticed how few questions there are for the MOS xword? I guess most people have got the 8 letters they need and thought 'Finished!'
hi, i read it just as an extra competition and the actual whole crossword remains the same as it was, otherwise why bother publishing the address in norwich to send to.
I@ve never come across such tight Bast**ds as you lot who use Answerbank. You expect answers to be given for free and object to paying a pound to enter a competition to win 1500. afterall this is only just over twice the cost of a stamp, add an envelope petrol to go to Post. No one makes you enter, if you really can't afford a pound (what can you get for a pound today? not a pack of fags or apint of Beer) just do the puzzle for fun.
It says SEND your solution to the USUAL address!
The text bit IS an extra contest.
COLUMBUS who do you think you are. We are all not rich. I am an 84 year old OAP. I have to manage on the state pension as my works pension went bust.. I do the xword for fun, but hope to win. My neighbiour supplies me with it after he has read it. I only use 2nd class stamps and walk to the post box as I do not own a car. I cannot afford to smoke or drink, and by the way this is not my computer I am using it belongs to the library. I do not ask for help or social security, but I still have a few friends and a distant relative who help me out with odd things and jobs. In conclusion I will say I am very happy and enjoying life and do not go around calling other ABs names
