Gbh without Intent and Self defense
Well, not long ago, a few days ago, My Boyfriend who didn't long turn 18, got into a fight with his mate, But his mate had started to strangle him, and he gets paranoid cause of what has happened to him in his younger days. Well my boyfriend went to get a drink and his mate annoyed him they argued and he strangled him first, My boyfriend became paranoid and hit him with the glass cup his mate started to bleed . When he realised he phoned the ambulance straight away. They came and so did the police , they took him away for 16 hours in custody. They then told him he has court in 2 weeks, Its not the crown court but the less serious one.
Another guy who was there, lied to the police in his statement and he got the injured mate to lie as well, they were caught. Which was good.
But he has been put down for GBH without Intent and self defense. And his solicitor said he had a high chance of winning/ not going to jail.
I dont believe them. I want to know if its true and can they lie?
But i'm worried, what is going to happen? someone give me an idea of what can happen please.. I'm worried.
Thanks

Difficult to say from your outline, but it sounds to me as though he is very very unlikely to get a gaol sentence, and furthermore stands a more- than- reasonable chance of succeeding with a self-defence plea.
People with greater legal experience/ knowledge will probably come along at a more reasonable hour with a better response. Good luck.
