It's said to bring relief to people with certain conditions - some cancers, MS, for example - but it's not clinically available on the NHS, certainly not on prescription!

Why do you want it?

It strikes me that it would be cheaper to start with. If tutu100 was eligible for free prescriptions or lived in Wales or Scotland, the saving would be enormous!

sandyRoe, I'm afraid it's got nothing to do with telling anyone. Visitors to your home will smell the stuff - it's unmistakable - and that includes the guy delivering parcels, the meter reader and anyone else you let in. They are the people that will share your secret.

Good try wildwood! The reality is that cannabis has been shown to be of negligible use in long-term intractable pain. Having a cancer or MS patient etc chilled out and relaxed is not a clinical presentation that appeals to most doctors for various reasons. However, let's look at it rationally. Let's take that a step further. Let's assume that the patient becomes tolerant of cannabis - what's the next step?

Given the fact that cannabis is currently classified as a Class B drug in the UK, there is a very real danger that a GP might prescribe a similar prescribable drug based on clinical need under these circumstances. Let's say that the patient complains that these drugs are ineffective. There is then a theoretical risk that such a patient might persuade a GP to prescribe Class A drugs such as methadone or diamorphine, more commonly known as heroin.

Understandably, it is in everyone's interest that every effort is made to prevent these circumstances arising and I'd be the first to agree that the simplest method is to ban illicit possession of Class B drugs in order to prevent the potentially horrendous consequences of a Class A addict.

Many years ago Berti when I was an insignificant uni biology lecturer, I lived in street in a northern town where there were many three storey houses that had been converted to student digs.

The students in one house were growing their cannabis in a ingenious hydroponic system in the attic that required a great deal of heat and light to sustain the plants. As usual, the police heard rumours of the cannabis factory and raided the place one morning. It had been snowing quite heavily in previous weeks and the officer in charge said to the student who answered the door that they knew something was going on because there was no snow on the roof. Quick as a flash, the student replied that the reason for this was that they had no insulation in the attic!

Fortunately, the police didn't buy it and searched the house from top to bottom for evidence. They soon found the plants. I lost an exceptionally gifted chemistry student that year as she and seven others were expelled from the uni.

i use to grow my own, great in cakes, why? cuz whoever bought one of mine, would always get the munchies. must add this was years ago

There are two types of THC prescriptions. Marinol(Dronabinol) is just thc and there's a whole plant type available in Europe but it's name escapes me.

You're kidding right? I've smoked pot for 30 years and never done heroin, despise cocaine, and deplore meth. THC isn't addictive, you can't od on it, and tolerance levels go away in less than three weeks. I think if you showed alcohol consumption as an indicator of future drug use the incident rate of class A abuse would be 100%.
