I recently came out of hospital and had to undergo a blood test for the DVLA, my results show a high Gamma GT level(140). I was in hospital having cancer treatment(neck dissection) and had not had a drink for 3 months before the blood test and then it was a tiny amount. I know my Liver is'nt too good from drinking heavily, years ago, i have regular check ups. Could the raised GT level be due to my Cancer and painkillers or/and the damage already done to the Liver?

Your Gamma GT level is an indication of liver function and in itself is not diagnostic of any particular disorder.

In my opinion your high enzyme level is almost certainly due to your alcohol abuse i the past and nothing to do with your neck cancer.

Neck malignancies, rarely if ever spread to the liver.......that is carcinomas.
