LED lightbulbs

Can these domestic lightbulbs be used with dimmer switches?

The LED'S you will need state on the packaging wether they are dimmable or not!

Whilst I confess to not knowing, I suspect they may need a dimmer especially designed for them. In my limited experience of LEDs they need current limitation and have a known voltage drop across them, which isn't quite the same as slapping an incandescent bulb across the 240v mains.

Could be interesting to see what it does though ;-)

All those that I have are so dim anyway, that you really need a brightener switch :-)

Thanks, Old Geezer and Crafty Pig. Considering the cost of the 3w bulbs (£6 from Lidl) and a replacement double dimmer at the end of Crafty Pig's link (£35) I may stick with my tungsten bulbs a wee while yet!

rojash: aren't yours CFLs and not LEDs. Don't think there are any dim LEDs.
