It is a base so will neutralise acids which can be the cause of indigestion

and give off CO2

the equation is

MgCO3 + 2HCl = MgCl2 + CO2 + H2O

The pH of stomach acid is 2.5 to 3.5 whcih is definitely acid enough for this reaction to occur. Remember to put a little arrow upwards after the Co2 to show taht it is a gas and comes out of solution
