Hi All
As per the title - screen capture from the Baja desert. Round marks on the floor.

I'm curious as to what they might be.

Cheers all.
Eddie

When I say in the middle of nowhere, I mean the middle of knowhere. No agriculture, no greenery, nothing. Just sand. I`m going to work tomorrow. I`ll ask the powers that be what they are but I think I`m talking about something completely different - as usual :-)

Looks like water treatment works.

Posting a link from google maps would be better, or the latitude and longitude.
I was thinking that too, Chuck. Look like sewage works to me...

Look like pie charts to me :)
More likely to be intensive market gardening in Baja

Hmm - not sure, water treatment works ....

Well i've google imaged those and i can't see that they are, although i think a good suggestion as i have no clue.

Intensive market gardening - circular .... ?

Still not sure ...
If you can post the latitude and longitude of the area we may be able to find what it is.

A good trick that works sometimes is finding the entrance to whatever it is, swap to steetview and see if there's a sign.
They look like installations of some kind and the green strips could be buildings or grass? The baja desert is supposed to be similar to Death Valley so how they transport water there is a mystery to me, unless there are underground wells.
They could even be evaporation plants for salt production. but again being able to see the surrounding area would help.

Valle Paraíso, Ciudad Constitución, México

If you search this in Google Map and zoom out you'll see that these things are enormous -sure;y not sewage treatment works..
I`ve seen these all over the place (from altitutde). Usually in the middle of nowhere. I`ve always been let to believe they`re something to do with salt but I might be wrong..
For God`s sake *altitude* and *led* my typos are getting worse
They are irrigation fields. Water, often from an artesian source rises at a point and is fed into a rotating arm that waters a circular area, Sometimes a single crop is grown in the entire circle, sometimes it is sub-divided radially and different crops then give it the pie-chart appearance in an aerial photograph.

I have seen similar photographs in 'National Geographic' magaxine.

they're certainly very strange - i can see what you mean about water transportation - it's the sheer size of some of them. i estimate maybe a mile across .... surely no structure could be self supporting like that ... ??
But when I`ve seen these, there has been no greenery as they`re in the middle of a desert. Maybe the ones in the OP are in a different environment.
IF you have a look round the rest of the area they are definitely irrigation. the original picture made some of them look a little like round tanks.
Definitely not the ones that I`m thinking of then. I see ones that are completely in the middle of nowhere - North America, OZ etc. in very barren areas.
If you chech my Wiki link of 20 minutes ago you will see them in the middle of nowhere in the Sahara Desert.
