Do not know the exact reason behind the name change made in June 1957 but the founder Tadao Kashio originally named the company Kashio Seisansho in April 1946.

You got it kempie, they altered it to Casio as it was easier to say and write internationally, as with Mazda cars which was actually Mr Matsuda.
