he's been coming to bed really late and when i ask him what he's been doing, he's been "playing" with his slide rule and log tables (that he bought on ebay the other day)
And, very sadly, i'm serious, he REALLY IS getting all excited over the slide rule.

I never even knew what one was (and to be honest still don't really know, but i presume it does something that calculators do now)

not sure dt, but as i type, he is sitting on the sofa, calculator in one hand, slide rule in the other and the instructions on his lap. Odd the things men find fascinating

Maths is fun and the slide rule is actually an amazing tool, I often do algebra just for pleasure, be proud of him!!

Slide rules have not been used since the 1970's (in Maths exams) due to the invention of the calculator (thanks Sir Clive) and the great rule that you could take your calculator into the exam !
