Does a higher rate of photosynthesis make the Pleurococcus grow more?

or does photosynthesis no affect the growth of Pleurococcus

Use the following simplified information to help you work out your homework answer.

PHOTOSYNTHESIS
carbon dioxide + water + light energy (in the presence of chlorophyll) ==> simple sugar (glocose) + oxygen.

Enzymes within the cells (eg starch phosphorylase) convert the simple sugar into polysaccharides.

i think it may be to do with because less energy is being produced during the process of photsynthesis, then less energy can be used for the production of proteins and conversion of nitrates for growth.
