Bee Or Wasp Sting Just Below The Eye Socket

Evening!

I have been stung by a wasp or a bee while out for a bicycle ride.

I can't tell you which because I had my eye closes so it wouldn't wipe its pollen-filthy feet on my iris.

Happened about 15 minutes ago.

At first the sting was square and raised white, probably about 1x1cm - now it has probably tripled in size in a oblong the bone just beneath the socket. Towards the tearduct end of the show

Anti-histamine taken, and keeping and eye on it (ha!) currently.

My question is, am I about to become a pirate styled gnome-and-editor? Or, if it is a mere remote possibility - what should I watch out for? Any suggestions for a good eye-patch place?

well, you should watch out for a second one because a first sting sensitises you and a second makes you swell up like a Zeppelin and can be quite serious (not always, probably, but it is common).

Bit of a swollen eye tomorrow morning and perhaps for the next 48 hours, but you will return to the exalted position of Ab Editor.

Did you take antihistamine by mouth........I bet you did ;-)
Better to use antihistamine cream.

Bees leave their sting in you so only sting if they have to. Wasps will sting just because they a bored.

Well they don't burrow as such, should be visible if it is there depending on how well you can see or maybe someone can look for you.

If it needs removing use the corner of a credit card to scrape/flick it out rather than tweezers.

It's the sort of thing you'd know about if it was still in your skin isn't it? I can't see it, so it was probably a wasp or a bee with a needle.
