Stephen Fry, What An Interesting And Intelligent Man.
100 Answers
I have heard a few of his interviews and discussions, I must admit that some of what he says goes right over my head and some of the words he uses, (I think he makes them up lol)
I have just sat through this YouTube clip, yes his views on religion are well known but I do find him very interesting.
Of course he is also a very troubled man being severely Bipolar, that is such a complex illness that has driven many to suicide, including Stephen Fry with his attempted suicide.

He's certainly a highly intelligent man - and his openness about his mental health has surely helped to expose some of the barriers to talking about it.

This is not going to be a popular post, I can see.
I have never met the man and only judge by media assessment.
Highly intelligent, good rapport with guests and quite humorous.
BUT, my view.....effeminate intellectual who is full of his own importance, enjoys impressing with words that probably only 10% of the population can understand.....this is also common with some ABERs, which defeats the object of lingual communication.
Verbose and takes a long time and even greater verbosity to get to the point......also common with certain ABers.
Myself....I am more of a Les Dawson or Bernard Manning man.

Reminiscent of Tony Hancock deciding to become an intellectual and reading Bertrand Russell. It takes him an age to read the first page because he has to keep stopping to look the words up in a dictionary!
Not familiar with the whole of Dawson' philosophy, but I must say that Ada had a fine understanding of the human condition

I used to like him but now I think he's a smartarse, the most self-satisfied pleased with himself oh look how clever I am people in the media. He wasn't so smart in 2007 (I think) when he was Martine McCutcheon's phone-a-friend on Who wants to be a Millionnaire and got it wrong! Bordering on the pompous now and over-exposed. Can't turn on the TV without seeing his ugly mug.
Ok, so he isn't everybody's cup of tea, only to be expected. I sometimes think that some people don't like him purely because he puts his point across so well, so politely and in such an educated way that it leaves little space for arguing, some people cant deal with that.
But naturally that wouldn't apply to anybody on AB ;-)
