Hi all, if someone says I've not heard this for yonk's, as an EG. what measure of time is a yonk? nano second, minute, hour, day, month, year? any help appreciated.

I suspect that 'yonker' is a curruption of the dutch word 'jonker' which translates as 'squire' ie. a young man and was much used in my youth by used car salesman as a term of limited deference.

It is a long, but unspecified time, and is a corruption of Years, mONths, and weeKS. Simple as that.
