That is a huge question, relating to different sectors of society. Can you be more specific? (This sounds like homework!)
There are lots of different aspects of life you could consider- family, community, money, where you live (block of flats/friendly street or in a lighthouse), employed or unemployed, work (part of a team with a voice or just a cog in the wheel), education, language, access to internet/tv/phone,....
A mother with young children might feel socially isolated, as could pensioners or those with a 'caring' role.
Check out Social Anomie for disconnection. That should impress your teacher.

Connected = Messaging people instantly on Facebook.

Disconnected = Messaging people on Facebook instead of meeting them face-to-face.
Connect by social networks and disconnect by reality.
