IPod formatting

Hey all. I'm just trying to install an IPod 60GB. Anyway, it needs formatting and is taking forever. My IPod Mini & Shuffle didn't need formatting. Can anybody shed any light, it's about 40mins in at the minute. I'm on Windows XP. Thanks

I had the same problem with my 60Gb ipod, in the end I disconnected it (even though it said not to), re-installed the software and tried again whereby it worked perfectly.

One point I have found though was it only liked my primary USB connection and not any of the secondary ones.

Thanks Khana, same happened with me, I got fed up with the formatting disconnected, then reconnected and all was well. Temperamental little ******* these IPods!
