Taking Iron Tablets And Caffiene
6 Answers
I am on iron tablets, but i also usually take some caffiene tablets in the mornings to help me wake up etc - just proplus
but i know its apparently not good to take them together - so what i have started doing it taking the caffiene first then a bit later taking the iron
but how long should i wait in between?
i take 2 proplus when i wake and occasionally one more tablet later on if i am still tired - but rarely more than that - only if i had a long drive or big night planned or something
i have to take 3 iron a day.
any know some kind of average? im thinking about 2 hours maybe? or is something 30mins ok?
thanks

a)Common sense way
b) scientific way.
Common sense way...2 proplus pills is equal to a cup of coffee.......are we REALLY saying that a cup of coffee will affect the absorption of iron?.....NO.
Scientific way.....yes, the are reports that coffee (doesn't say how much) may..MAY inhibit the absorption of iron and suggest that it is better to take the iron 2 hours before a meal on an empty stomach. BUT...iron tablets taken onan empty stomach MAY irritate the lining of the stomach and lead to gastritis.
What would i do?....as I said in 15:19...whatever is convenient.
Take the iron tablets with my breakfast and caffeine tablets after breakfast.
That is my opinion.
