Each colour has, by definition, a different frequency/wavelength, which means dispersion of light occurs as each is undergoes refraction, thus the raindrop acts like a prism, causing a spectrum to be seen, and it is that which we call a rainbow.

no at the end of the rainbow is a big yellow alligator, commonly known as a croc of gold.
