I have a pair of varifocal glasses which I'd like to have re-made into sunglasses. Does anybody know a company to whom I can send them to be tinted (or whatever process is used) to make them into sunglassses?
Google has umpteen ads for companies who will gladly take my frames and put in varifocals sunglass lenses if I send a current prescription with the frames. Cant find one who will just tint my clear lenses
Thanks

I used this company when Boots wanted to charge me £260 to reglaze my variofocals without Transitions lenses. They charged me £50 and I am very happy with them.
You cant tint existing lenses, tint is added to the lens material before the lens is made, you will need to reglaze.
Note to self: Read the question fully!
I've got light-sensitive varifocals, the coating has to be built in at the time, you can't do it afterwards However, I do have a plain lens pair of specs too, and I just bought a pair of good clip-on sunglasses to wear over the top if I have to wear those.
Strange. 20 years ago when I switched from varifocals to bifocals I took the former back to the optician to have them tinted - no problem. Can.t remember what they charged but it was very little, if anything, as I had bought my new glasses from them. Pop into your optician's and ask.
p.s. There is a difference between photochromatic (light sensitive) lenses and tinted ones.
