Obesity
Is there a scientific reason why it is so hard to invent a pill that prevents one's body from storing fat?
I am lucky in that my weight is easy to manage and I eat plenty of 'naughty' foods, but I know of some that are living a life of constant struggle to prevent their weight from ballooning.
We have pills for just about everything, so why not one of the most prevalent and costly ailments in the western world.

The bottom line is....eat less and you will lose weight.
One needs tablets that suppress the appetite and there are plenty about..........unfortunately, most have undesirable side effects or are addictive.

I think that it firstly comes down to genetics, if as you say you can eat almost anything without putting on weight and I know several family members of my OH's family who are the same. Not an ounce of weight difference whatever they eat. I think if someone is the other way of that..just has to look at a cream cake et al on goes a stone, then unfortunately that person will have to watch what they eat for life. Maybe if that criteria was established then science may be able to come up with something to even things out.
Producers of food also have to take responsibility IMO as too much sugar and unhealthy things are added to foods where it's not needed. The programme on tv told the story of this it was The Men who Made you Fat I think, an eye opener and something that has never really been challenged. Makes you wonder too what sort of chemicals are added that have or may have changed the genetics in humans and none of us are aware of what it's doing. That's my take on it anyway....it's not always down to gorging oneself that causes people to pile on the pounds.

No it is just an extremely difficult problem. With the huge rewards this would bring there must be thousands of scientists on the case but It is a difficult nut to crack. Basically they are attempting to thwart millions of years of evolution. The human body has basically evolved to eat when it can and go long periods without eating. Modern life means that food is readily available, QED we put on wieght. Those that eat what they like and never gain weight would probably starve to death of we had to live like they did in prehistoric times so on an evolutionary scale those lines would have died out if we had not reached the state of food availability that we have.

Obesity is so much more than eating too much. Body type, medication, hormonal changes, physiological problems ,one pill could never solve this complex issue. Most of us know someone who seems to eat what they like do very little exercise yet remain fairly slim -this does not mean they are healthy as they could be laying down fat internally which is not seen. Others will do moderate exercise have quite a healthy diet but will always be a bit n the chunky side -you can't make a cart horse into a thorobred by starving it! Education and cheaper 'healthy' foods would be a start but if there ever was a pill someone would make a fortune.
I've many friends through no fault of their own has increased in Weight due to medication & I feel for the as I knew the person prior to the Weight increase, it's these people that fill their faces & fill their faces without thinking of the Consequences or know the Consequences & think *** it, then they expect the NHS to give them treatment FOC, to me, you have filled your face it's up to you to diet Simple.
