Why? Am I Constipated And Not Losing Wieght.

havent went for 1 week or more. got laxitive off medic last night , drank 3 coffee this morning , still have not went properly, mostly air and gas .

i am offshore on oil rig and food is good, im drinking crushed pure oranges in morning ( around 3 ) plus coffee, mostly salad and protein meals at night and soup during days.

what the heck is wrong with my system ? i cannot understand it .

i stay well away from bread, amybe some hi fibre brown with soup, 1 roll per day. in coffeee i have cream, condensed low sugar cream in coffee. lots salad and lean meat. though i only eat little.

had a gastric sleeve 5 years ago so i eat little. i was drinking beer heavilly untill 2 weeks ago but now im offshore and cannot drink beer.
I'd not know why your body isn't passing waste, but I'd suspect it might be the reason you're not losing weight. Let us know when it's backed up to your eyes ;-)

From what I've heard rigs can be stressful work environments, not just physically but also emotionally. Stress can constipate you. If you feel bunged up, needing to 'deliver' but unable, then a gel suppository can give relief. However, you need to rule out other factors that are causing constipation, so probabky best to talk to a doctor.
Constipation is very common in patients who have had barometric surgery as, although it is a straightforward procedure, it does change the whole physiology of your digestive system.

One week of constipation is far too long and after 2 or 3 days of not passing stools, one should take measures such as dulcolax.

High fibre, well hydration and exercise are all very important measures following barometric surgery.

I don't know what laxative you have taken, but try Dulcolax and if you havent emptied your bowel within 24 hours then see your Dr.
No roughage in your diet Diesel. Allbran for breakfast maybe?

Try and get Pure Bran - available from Hollands and Barretts - pour onto anything yogurt your cereal - it is fantastic.

If you can get some prune juice where you are, that would hopefully help......cereals such as Alpen, Weetabix and the like, may help too. Good luck, mate.
Diesel - sorry to hear this, must be uncomfortable - but, are you drinking enough water? You mention coffee's but do you carry a water bottle around with you to take regular slurps throughout the day? This would help you out if you did

Lactulose works for me. 5mls 2/3 times a day.
Medication sometimes constipates me and I have Movicol sachets if it gets too bad.

You would be better off by eating one of the oranges instead of drinking the juice as all the roughage is in the whole fruit, not the juice.

Try not to eat too much red meat. If you like fish, the fibres are more digestible than meat. If you eat potatoes, try and eat the skins as well, so if baked potatoes are on the menu, opt for that. The skins contain the majority of the vitamin C and all the roughage. Fruits with edible seeds, such as strawberries, raspberries, etc, will all help. If eating apples, don't peel them. As already mentioned, sweetcorn is a good bet. I know that you mention flatulence, but if you can eat baked beans, broad beans, that can help as they're cooked with the skins on and will help with more roughage. Once your bowel gets back to normal, you can eliminate any food which you prefer not to eat.
You must drink plenty of water too, especially if your job makes you sweat to a moderate degree. You need to replace the water sweated out plus enough to keep your body hydrated.
