So , ( i can't believe i'm starting off a sentence with the word - so ) i was surfing the radio last night , and happen upon Radio 4 , where they were in the process of transmitting the book for bedtime , reading .

Hey up i thought - this story sounds familiar , lets have a further listen .
The story was from the book ' True Grit '

I found myself engrossed in the story ( by a large part because the reader was excellent ) playing in my mind the film as the reader went along .

I can't wait for the next part tonight ( pity i was not in on it from the start )

Good old Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne ) - i can't imagine anyone else playing the part .

Was anyone else listening ?

I didn't hear it but Jeff Bridges did a good job in the 2010 film remake

I went to see the recent re-make with Mr Bridges as Rooster
It was very good but I then had to buy it on DVD and watch with the subtitles on - I could not understand a word he said
