I guess it can't hurt to explore the possibility, although if we are living in a simulation so perfect that no possible measurement can distinguish it from reality (and even if the simulation weren't perfect, the measuring device would also be a part of the simulation so it might not be able to tell anyway), then I don't see what difference it makes.

i'm not sure about this, but i think that the sum of human knowledge is only about 1% of what is really out there. there was a programme called cosmos fronted by the late great carl sagan, this stated that we did not appear on earth until 23.59 on the 31st dec. there was a hell of a lot of history that went on before that that we are only guessing at what went on. with the advent of technology i believe that we are becoming less cerebral, where are the modern minds that could stand up to the great minds of the past, like the greeks, egyptians, romans and other ancient civilisations as well as newton, einstein et al? there are a lot of events that happen that we have no reasonable explanation for.

I hope that it's a simulation because the level of pain or the level of the negative emotions and feelings caused by the suffering (in some illnesses for example) is something that shouldn't exist and everything can't be so bad in the world like it seems. So I hope that in reality only the people that don't suffer exist in the world and I hope that if you suffer a lot and you are reading this you are only an illusion of me, and the others who suffer are just an illusion that exist just to motivate the people that don't suffer because the creator/gods indeed wouldn't be capable of making people suffer very badly.
