Volume Of A Pond In Litres.

should be obvious to anyone with O level maths but it is some time since I was at school.

Pond is built in three levels.
Top level is 2.5m diameter x 30cm deep.
Level 2 is level is 1.9m diameter x 30cm deep.
Bottom level is 1.3m diameter x 30cm deep.

What is the volume in litres?

There are 1000 litres in a cubic metre. I think the pond holds 3.465 cubic metres.

For each level convert the diameter into centimetres and half it to find the radius.

Find the volume of each level by multiplying the surface area (πr²) x 30

Add the three together. This will give you the volume in cc. To convert to litres multiply by 100.

This is assuming that the pond is circular, which it must be because of the use of the word diameter.

Assuming its circular, I make it 2722 litres

The link from divebuddy gave 2680 litres, almost the same as sddsddddean 2722. I need to know to order some equipment for the pond. Funny, I always thought it is a lot bigger.

Empty the pond. Note the reading on the water meter. Fill the pond. Read the water meter again and subtract the first reading from the second. (I'm rubbish at maths, too!))

Calculated the three levels using formula width x diameter x depth. Total for all three levels 2.565 cc which 2565 litres or (564 galls approx). I believe.
