Scarring Of Ear Drum

I went to the doctor and he says I have scarring on the left ear drum.
I found in the internet that this is called "Tympanosclerosis".
I did not have middle ear infection before, but I had outer ear infection and recovered.
I am concerned that would the scarring recover naturally? Many websites say that some operation is needed to remove the scar tissue, but I do not want one if I can recover naturally.

I'm definitely no expert but I don't think scar tissue heals. Once established then it's there. May fade in colour but that won't help you. Is it an issue regarding your hearing ?

Tympanosclerosis is just one, particularly, severe cause of scarring of the ear drum which may or may not cause symptoms.
However, by far the commonest cause of "scarring" is that of "thinning" of the ear drum, which normally has 3 layers but in this type of scarring has only one layer........i.e in that area of scarring, it is thin.
A healed perforation may be the cause or indeed past infection, but in the majority of cases no cause is found (idiopathic)

Surgery for this particular type is rarely indicated.

my left eardrum blew a number of years ago due to infection.thereafter it happens every once in a while..
