I have an elderly bureau made by the Northamton Cabinet Company London E11, with a Chinese style ?inlay ?lacquer depiction on the top and front of drawers. Some of the colour has come off (not much), but I need to know what paint or other material I can use to match the colours. I'm not lookng to do a full restoration, just want to tidy it up a bit. All advice gratefully received.

I am not a furniture restorer; however, I do know that if I owned a fine piece that need some attention there is no way I would consider paint. Google "Furniture Restoration", and you'll get all kinds of suggestions.
The NCC traded mostly in reproduction furniture in the 1970/80 as did many in the Leytonstone area.Do you know what finish is on the bureau?...it may be Nitrocellulose tinted lacquer or a Shellac based finish. For my sins I served an apprenticeship with Robert Blake of London who were next door to NCC.
