Steam Mop

Bought one of these maybe a few years ago but only used it about 3 times.

Used it for 4th time today and no wonder why - there is no control feature - just on and off. Water pi&&ses out of it and it glugs glugs round the room.

What am I doing wrong.

yes the red one - it is been a watery disaster since I bought it but, I blamed myself in that I wasn't using it correctly. thank God I only used it the 4 times as I clean every day and if I had have been using it every day I wouldn't have had a plank left.

If that's the correct mop there should be a steam control on it!

Also, if water simply flows out of it, are you sure that you've got the appropriate attachment fitted to it?

thanks Chris - well mine is the long one - maybe I do have it a little too high. I have as much trouble in that I have to use the oul fashioned one to dry it up . Too much trouble in my eyes. Also you have to hoover the dirt first.

when I first bought it I thought it "sucked" up the dirt then cleaned but no can do.

I will maybe next year look for a better one - anyhoo - I am thinking of replacing all my wooden planks with carpet - (so much warmer) as I am thinking of changing decor in living room/dining room etc (when I get some money up) ie curtains, carpets, etc etc etc.

JJ do you wait for it to heat up? I use mine at full chat on my tiled floors and they are dry in a matter of minutes

thanks for your answers guys. I have perused other mops but I am saying to myself (what am I looking for) a thing that turns water into steam and then glides over the dirty floor. Surely if there were bits ie like dog food etc the steamer doesn't suck that in - vacuums are for that. What are we looking for before I contemplate buying another one.

The steamer doesn’t suck ANYTHING in. The hot water vapour softens the dirt, grease, bits of dogfood and so on (I have got dogs too, their dribble is like glue!) the towelling or microfibre “cap” that goes over the head of the steamer collects and lifts off the dirt as you wipe it over the floor. Dirty “cap” (or two or three if your floor is like mine) gets thrown in the washing machine. Fllor dries in a minute or so. If my floor is filthy then I pre treat it with a wet household spray cleaner. I use one of the Dettol ones that needs no rinsing because of the dogs, but only on my tile floors, on the wood floor, if I steam it I use plain water but more often i use a mop and bucket and specialist cleaner if my wood floor needs more than vaccuuming.

thanks for that woofie - do have that dettol majig and love it actually. Do think I have it too high - I'll give it another go before I buy another one.
