There are forty 25ml measures in 1 litre of spirit. If 25ml is the measure you mean Minty.

Aren't units and shots different things ? No expert but isn't a shot a single measure of volume and a unit related to the alcohol content ?

As I understand it a single is either 25 or 35ml depending on where you go. I suspect 25ml is more usual. Which would be 1000 / 25 = 40 shots.
Just googled shot measurement and got 44ml.

1000ml divided by 44 = 22, Roughly.
Just had a look Minty 25ml is the standard UK optic measure, now when you say "units" do you mean the health warning unit that we regularly reminded of?

thank you all xx
My shot glass is obviously bigger. :-)
1 litre is 1000ml divided by 25ml = standard optic measures.
Mine's a Canadian shot glass.
There's no exact answer, Minty, given that later measures mysteriously get bigger as the remaining amount shrinks.
It's called the shaky hand paradox. :)
÷ ah it does exist. So that 5 minute fruitless search for it wasn't in vain.

lol Togo..need to get some booze in for festive season and have no idea what is a pub measure...rarely go into one these days....
I'm sure that someone who drinks spirits will correct me but aren't "normal" bottles of spirits 75cc, not 1 litre?
You need to check, minty, or your calculations will be way out.

COSTCO sell litre bottles of spirits bhg..think that may be the most economical way of buying....NOT that I am having a rave up you understand..just clueless as to how many I need to get really...
Question Author
so if I have 6 guests averaging 4 drinks each , a litre will leave enough over for unexpected caller or two or a few more for non drivers...
Sounds good.
Busy pubs put Litre bottles of popular spirit brands and even a bottle called a Half Gallon that holds 1750ml. The Standard 75cl (750ml) bottle contains 30 optic measures of 25ml. (I have run a pub btw)
