Repair Or Replace Leaking Straight Gutter Joints ?

Dear Good Ab'ers is it best to replace leaking straight gutter joints, or repair them ? already tried new seal carefully, but still leaks . Gutter showing its age. Repair 2nd time ? = good prep. , with plasterboard gauze and liquid rubber ?
Can't always get the same colour new parts, but can paint spray the parts . 1st floor and 2nd floor gutter , but am comfortable working at these heights . Thanks AB'ers GL.

If the guttering is showing its age, the best solution would be to replace. If you do the job yourself, you would need to go up the ladder just the once, and that would be it for a long time. Whereas if you repair, you could be up and down that ladder for some time.

I take it they are plastic gutters? If so, why are you using plasterboard?

He was using plasterboard gauze melv, not plasterboard .. as a support for the liquid rubber.
When I do a gutter repair at the joint (usually doing it for someone who cant afford to replace them), I remove the joint and clean it thoroughly with a scouring pad and cream cleaner. Rinse in clean water. Also cleaning the gutter at least 3-4" either side of the joint.
Re-assemble and clip it back in place. Then get some flash band and stick it down working from the centre outwards, making sure you overlap the joint. If you do the preparation oroperly, this will never leak.
