Hello I'm from Belgium, I filled in the crossword, but I can't compete because I don't live in the UK, Scotland or Ireland...:-(
I have all the answers:
1= FRENCH HENS
3= CAROL
4= SCROOGE
9= SNOWMAN
10= REDSLED
12= NORTH STAR
13= STEPHENS
14= YULE
2= DECEMBER
5= COMET
6= FROST
7= MANGER
8= FRANKINSENCE
11= HOME
15= KEEPER
16= GOLD
17= KISS
18= NOEL
19= SKATES
I wish you all succes! And maybe if you win, remember me and maybe I get a little gift ;-)
19 down bugs me; if you break the clue down and the answer is "Skates", then the rest of the clue following "Bladed footwear" is redundant. If the answer is in the anagram of "...desk at...", then that makes it "Skated". If that is the case, then what does "...the entrance" add to the clue??
I’m not sure 16d is GOLD. The clue is ‘Precious metal OR ...’ so if Gold is the answer wouldn’t that be like saying ‘Thinly sliced and seasoned fried potatoes OR crisps’ ? They’re both the same thing.
