Parallel Universes
Just watched this video (below).
A bit mind boggling but very interesting. Just wanted to know how widely accepted this idea is among physicists? Or is it a fringe science kind of thing?
Thanks.

I think it would be a bit soon to call the idea "accepted", but it's certainly not pseudoscienc e. As a rule of thumb, a scientific idea should only be accepted if it's been properly tested, and I really don't think that this has been tested properly yet. There are (at least) two very different "parallel universe" ideas, though, and it's important not to confuse...

Weird. We bought a load of rulers for 5p each a while ago because there's never a ruler around when you need one. Can we ever find one now? No.
Same with biros. When my dad's company changed its name he came home with hundreds of pens branded with the old name, now useless (except as pens). Has he got one in house now? No. What is going on?

Broadly, there is nothing in the theories that precludes a multiplicity of multiverses (can't really call them multiple universes), but there is no evidence for that multiplicity.
Neither is there any evidence that there is only one single universe.
It's one of those areas where, since we have no evidence one way or the other, scientists can't really make any pronouncements one way or the other.
