I heard on the radio this morning that the carbon dioxide shortage will now affect crumpets and fresh goods packaging now as well as fizzy drinks and beer.

You could not make it up.
First we are being told that too much CO2 is causing global warming and will result in future generations on Earth suffering a partial extinction due to seas rising 100s of feet.
Now we are being told we have a CO2 shortage.

I will burn some tyres on the beach tonight and leave my Hummer engine running to create some CO2 and help with the shortage.
;-)
I've read that the shortage is due to a high number of producers needing to close for maintenance...all at the same time. Unfortunate coincidence, but doesn't sound a major deal.
Your Answer...Being discussed on BBC news now.

How can this be? We used to make it in the laboratory at school chemistry lessons back in the 60s!
