Ok, so I react badly to hair dyes, and last time doctor insisted I went to hospital as my head had swollen so much, and my eyes sealed shut. Sooooo, I’ve been looking online researching, and I found a product called Coloursafe, which contains no ammonia, no PPD’s, resorcinol and parabens free. Still thought I’ll do a patch test to be on the safe side.
It suggested either inner forearm or behind ear, so I did both. This was 2 hours ago. I already have a red , sore itchy circle of skin about 3 inches across in both places. Why?? What an I reacting to??
I refuse to go grey as I get older so what on earth is left that I can try?
I have brown hair btw. Would going lighter help??
So fed up! Grrrr.....

With highlights the mixture does not really touch your skin as you have silver foil placed round the strands. I find that they cover a lot of my grey nd look more natural. Have a word with a hairdresser might be worth looking at having done.
Some people are so sensitive it's really not worth the risk.
I have used these products in the past, not for sensitivity but because they are really gentle.

Of course highlights are done with bleach or a bleaching agent usually a combination of peroxide and boosting powder which contains ammonia. A toner is added if you don't want too extreme ones. The fumes from chemical dyes will also be a risk factor.
How about drawing attention from the root area with a coloured wash on the lower half of your hair.
Grey is still very on trend though
