Drill Size

I'm following some instructions for a drilliing job and it asks me to use a drill bit or bits like this, (o6 o3.2) where the 'o' has a diagonal line through it. If I remember correctly that means diameter. If so, my drill bits are marked in full sizes, no fractions/decimal points. So for size 3.2 would size 3 suffice? This is of course assuming it does mean diameter!

3.2mm = 1/8th of an inch

3.2mm is as near as damn it to 3mm. Depends how really precise your whole needs to be. 3.2mm is 1/8"

But .2 of a millimetre is so tiny that 3mm would probably do if that is all you have.

This is referring to a 6mm diameter drill and a 3.2mm diameter drill. Using a different size drill depends on what the holes are for and in what type of material you are drilling. If the 3.2 mm drill is for a clearance hole ie something is being pushed through it, then a 3mm drill is to small. Nobody can answer your question fully without more details.
