how do i nurse this back to health, last one went same with root rot

i watered it 6 week ago and then went on holiday
come back yesterday the end of leaves are brown and withered, some leaves fallen off.
soil was dry as a bone
i added 1 large cup of water today just to moist but i think not enough to hit the bottom of tray
ive set it near window in direct sunlight whereas before it was hidden from sunlight

I find they will drop lower leaves periodically as they grow.
Your plant needs a good soaking to recover from your absence, but don't let it sit in the water. Just allow the surface to dry out begore watering again.
