Should Mr Watson Face A Full Independant Investigation?
26 Answers
And what about plod? They seem to be getting away scot free despite one of hte worst investigation ever.
IMHO, I think Watson and top plod on this case should face the music and if guilty plod at very least should be fired. Watson of course will have to answer to the electorate in 2020.

He said categorically, publically and with no justification whatsoever that Beech's allegations were "credible and true". No police officer of whatever rank should ever say that about any allegations. The veracity of them is to be tested in court and until then nobody knows whether they are true or not. The police may find them "credible" though as I said at the time, I found it hard to give credibility to such widespread and serious allegations against so many prominent people. However, even if the police did find them believable, that should have remained a confidential matter for discussion between them and the CPS. Hyphen-Howe's public pronouncement could well have jeopardised any trial that may have followed and the most senior officer in the country should have known much, much better.
As for Mr Watson, he is a greasy creep of the first order. It is clear he gave his support to Beech for purely political purposes. That support, especially in the light of Beech's convictions and the judge's remarks when sentencing him, suggest that at the very least he should be investigated for attempting to pervert the course of justice.

I think that what has not been addressed in this sorry tale is the role of the CPS in this case. With such high profile subjects of investigation can anyone imagine that there has not been high level directions from the CPS as to the conduct and way that the investigation was to be progressed. It seems that plod is carrying the can while the CPS gets away with no criticism.
It depends what the olice presented to the CPS, Gladeian.
Contrary to what you see portrayed in "Law & Order UK", the CPS is not an investigatory body. It relies on evidence gathered by the police to come to a charging decision. If the police put evidence before them and their top man has announced on the Nick Ferrari show that allegations are "credible and true" what are they supposed to do?

Further to what level of involvement by the CPS.
Operation Midland commenced by the Met in November 2014 and ended 21 March 2016. No persons were arrested or charged and of all 159 interviewees, a grand total of two were interviewed under caution.
The Met sought investigative advice of the CPS once only, on 13 October 2015, months after the highly publicised raids on premises of the falsely accused.

Disgracefully Watson described himself as a victim of Beech.

"Mr Watson also admitted for the first time he had been quoting Beech when he accused Lord Brittan of being “as close to evil as a human being could get” in a vicious attack on the former home secretary just four days after his death."
The victims were Proctor, Janner et al, so for him to consider himself a victim is pathetic. He must have been squirming like hell when Beech was arrested, and squirming even more when he was convicted.

It would appear that plod even obtained search warrants by falsifying evidence. They must be charged with perverting the course of justice! Disgraceful. They wonder why we don't believe a word that they say, as does our main "news" provider. There needs to be a root and branch clear out of the mealy mouthed politically correct(corrupt) placemen(and women) in our National institutions. Enough is enough.
Yes he should. Operation Fairbank was established after Watson passed information to the police.
Everyone who is responsible for the lives that have been ruined, should be investigated and if necessary, punished.

Remember......we have been denied the information referring to the identity of guilty and subsequently convicted paedophiles, scores of them in fact, and even stooped as low as locking up in prison people who have tried to voice concern about this wicked state of affairs.

//His crime apparently is starting a moral panic...//
His crimes, actually, if the reports are to be believed, include perjury, attempting to pervert the course of justice, lying to the police and wasting police time. There's no moral panic involved. He's simply a greasy client who saw the chance to make a bit of political capital, and made many of his false allegations from behind the shield of Parliamentary Privilege.

“In December 2012, the Metropolitan Police stated that, after Watson had passed information to them, they had established Operation Fairbank to investigate the allegations”
“In 2015, Watson was criticised for consistently refusing to comment after it was revealed that the police had been pushed into investigating rape allegations against Leon Brittan by Watson, who wrote to the Director of Public Prosecutions”
Both from the link I gave at 17.24, THECORBYLOON.
