I was out for lunch with a friend today and I was drinking a cold soft drink when all of a sudden I started to choke I couldn't swallow and my oesophagus was ejecting everything I tried to put in its way. I was choking and being sick it was horrible. my friend was quite scared by it. This has happened a few times before at home always liquid that causes this not solids. It's pretty scary I have been sensible and not googled symptoms. Anyone any idea what this could be. My main concern is cancer of the oesophagus

Make an appointment with your GP.
Osesophageal cancer might indeed be a possible cause of the problem but there are plenty of others:

If it did turn out to be cancer then, as always, the sooner treatment is started the better the prognosis:

See your GP!
It could be that the liquid went into your trachea resulting in choking, and as you had just eaten, this choking and accompanying spasms resulted in the recent food being regurgitated.
Cancer is most unlikely.
You only mention problems with liquids and no problems with solid food and this would suggest a neurological problem.
See your GP who will examine your mouth and throat.
Probably no big deal.
