when an American recipe calls for corn starch - is that the same as our corn flour.

Also when I'm at it - what is the best shop bought puff pastry

Best puff pastry if you can get it is Waitrose all butter puff, I think Morrisons do one too. You'd make it with butter if you did it from scratch.
