There's always problems in life to overcome but do we really need all this constant speculation coming from every direction, most of it from TV media.
A month or so back and for days on end there was speculation of all kinds of shortages, food being the main shortage on the run up to Christmas.
The food shops I've seen this week are if anything overstocked, never seen so much food.

Saturday I was out and about and it was very foggy most of the day, and very dark. Walking towards me a young girl and her mum, I would say the girl would be around 9/10 years old, when passing me I heard the young girl say, ( Is this because of global warming) Her mum replying no no we sometimes have foggy days in winter, the young kid said, ( I think it is), looking really scared. The day by day gloom and doom is bad enough for many adults to cope with, but what must be going on in kids minds. The above is just one example I would think.

My friend's young granddaughter aged 8 - after not having seeing g'mother for a while - said "you know granny - I have to look after my mental health now".

Unbelievable. Another neighbour's g'daughter came in with her mother holding like a massive EMOJI bear thing with a large mouth. The little girl aged 4-5 just started school, told her mother - all the things she was worried about - what was happening in her class. Like one of mates has lost grandparent, another was moving house, - daughter was pretending to write these worries down and then got the paper wrapped it up and opened the EMO's mouth and pretended the EMO swallowed all her worries and the little girl was to worry no more. I was aghast.
No, we definitely don't need it Teapots, but I'm afraid there's no stopping it now ! It's very sad that little kids who should be carefree and enjoying life while they are innocent, are now talking about their 'mental health' - where and when did it all go so wrong ??
Rather we need a lot less.
This is one of the problems with rolling news.

It's no surprise that newsworthy events are not happening once an hour, but that space still has to be filled.

That means that in the absence of anything actually happening, they fill the time guessing what might happen.

Speculation is simple, free, and endless, no wonder it's what we get instead of actual news.

But guessing is not news, and should not be offered as though they are the same things.

Facts versus imagination...
Maybe best not to watch or take too much notice of the newscasts. Could be worse - we could be in N Korea or Afghanistan!
I disagree hat we've gone 'so wrong' just because children might be concerned about mental health but I would agree the term is overused mainly by adults... many interviewees talking about some problem of poor service or fuel shortages or price rises or restrictions add ' ...and its affecting my mental health...'

I'd allso agree its a phrase I do'nt ever remember hearing when I was at school but its more common now. Same with gender issues. I was politely chatting to a customer (mother ) and daughter (about 10/11 yo) at work the other day and the girl chattily said " and whats your sexuality?". God knows where that came from but I was lost for words.

I would think daytime chat shows are the biggest culprits of doom and gloom. I have no time for them and don't watch them but have seen their constant babble. When kids are off school they are even more exposed to all this speculation from TV.
Didn't watch grown-ups TV when we were kids. Certainly not the news.
This is most likely coming from some parents and all the Marxist academies masquerading as schools nowadays.
i reckon you are right spicey..
