My eyes just glaze over and I cannot even read the explanations and I am never going to use them. But if it makes you feel superior then feel free to do so but you are wasting your time. Thanks to those who were kind enough to not make me feel stupid.
yes that method work's pixie but is no good if your not sure why it works and forget the rule/formula...so i just go back to percent meaning per hundred and work from there... have to do it alot at work (even though a gulliver sees shelfstackers as people to mock)
Lankeela, I just pasted your question - What percent of 5000 is 200?- into google. Answer immediately, 4%. The way to avoid smartarses in the future. ;o)
"TTT simple arithmetic ie adding up I can do but what you have written means nothing to me. " - slash means divide so 2/50 is 2 divided by 50 only 4 one hundredths(0.04) of 50 fits into 2 so that's the answer.
TTT - Nope still not getting it because I don't want to know. Who says slash means divide? It didn't when I went to school - divide was two dots above and below a line.
Lankeela, I don't think so. Most questions here attract a variety of answers. For yours there is only one. I just didn't like the thought that people were making you feel stupid - but up to you. I'll shut up.
One thing I have learnt is that you can change who you give 'Best Answer' to! Sorry Pixie, gave you BA then saw you tried to explain anyway so gave it to PP but roadman has now taken top spot!
Divide means "out of". So 1/4 is 1 out of 4.
You asked, 200 out of 5000 as a percentage. So you get the fraction, 200 out of 5000. and x100 makes it a percentage.
depends whether you know what percent means lankeela...
Yes the answers 4% but if your not interested in what it means then am wondering whether an answer of 4% really tells anything. I wasn't giving a formula just saying percent means per hundred so with your figures you can do it by simple arithemetic. If you doont want to fair enough but others might find it useful and it is an 'answerbank'
