A great thing to know "hindsight is a wonderful thing". but I didn't order this - the way it is was presented on the BT site - oh it was great - not.

If I had have known what was going to happen with the full fibre I would not have let them cross my door.

After all the digging etc fibre box has to now be on floor level, I have hidden it on the floor inside my living room near to the outside scenario box.

Anyway when men drove away - I am now left without a landline phone for upstairs which is attached to a powerful light courtesy of RNID - also no way can I ring for emergencies.

A curse if ever there was. I have typed a complaint to BT but again you used to be able to mail it online - no you have to post - thought these places were going to go PAPERLESS . Sorry for the rant this morning.

As I said yesterday it will take another week to get my old number back and so nobody knows the new number.

And let me tell you - there is absolutely no difference to speed, logging on and "hanging" with the blue circle hovering and hovering. A bloody take on.

I take it you had an extension upstairs ,before
We will have no choice about the old PSTN lines, JJ. They are going to be closed down and everybody will be cut off from it.
Your upstairs landline phone will work with an adapter that BT should have given you. I'm not sure that the flashing light will work. Speak to RNID

Barry according to the lads it could be another 4 years 2026

Yes Basil's. Extension for years
It's nearly 2023 now, JJ, and the target is 2025 to get everyone switched over.
Try and get the adapter.
Here's how to get the adapter for the upstairs phone:

"If you plug your phone into a telephone socket that's not near to your Smart Hub 2, that's ok. You can either use an adapter to connect them, or get a Digital Voice home phone and remotely connect it to your smart hub.

You can order either an adapter or a Digital Voice home phone free from bt.com/DVequipment. Or text the word ADAPTER or HANDSET to 61998."

Thanks Barry. Could you provide me with a link of the adaptor. So that I'm know what I am talking about

Looked at him e phone. Wouldn't be able to hear it as upstairs line is adeaf phone too
// also no way can I ring for emergencies. //

Perhaps now is the time to invest in a smartphone. A bracelet linked to the smartphone will alert you (vibrate) of incoming calls. It will also enable you to ring for the emergency services by dialling 999 or 112.

Ooops... Sorry!

Please don't take offence as I am truly all over the place - there is nothing for you to be sorry about but I do thank you for your suggestion - it is just I don't want to go there right now.

Barry

I looked at upstairs phone and the guy without telling me there seems to be an adaptor in the electric socket. The telephone connector is going on top on the top of the adaptor and a green light is constantly flashing.

When I lift the phone instead of a ringing tone I am getting engaged tone so perhaps when the switch over is complete ie when I get my number back - upstairs telephone may work.

Thanks for your help too.
