I posted my reasons for that statement over six months ago. The post was removed, I presume, because a mod didn't like to hear that. However, here is another reason.

"In order for them to form visible blooms and increase the melting of the snow and ice, they just need the right conditions, which at a minimum involve basic nutrients and melting,” says Anesio. “As the climate gets warmer, the availability of liquid water from snow and ice becomes higher, favouring the growth of snow and ice algae.”

Climate change is causing the growth of the ice algae.
A 3 year old article which actually says the opposite to what your headline says. The algae is growing in the arctic because it has got warmer.
Bit of an oggy there me old china!
// because it has got warmer. //

But the conspiracy theorists believe it is not down to anthropogenic emissions.
Dunno about it being because a mod didn't like to hear it. Probably more likely they were concerned to prevent the site getting known for spreading false information. The idea that humans are not involved in climate change is held by so few maverick experts that it is comparable to the situation when tobacco companies swore that smoking was unrelated to cancer and was actually good for you.

I'm sure it's possible to find insufficiently understood phenomena that could cast doubt on established belief but one should not assume it is some sort of proof that everyone is wrong.
'When liquid water is cooled, it contracts like one would expect until a temperature of approximately 4 degrees Celsius is reached. After that, it expands slightly until it reaches the freezing point, and then when it freezes it expands by approximately 9%.'

If one considers the surface area of the planet, the icebergs are the tiniest of pimples, so why are we being told that the entire volume of the oceans of the world will rise if some Icebergs melt ?

And why are we being asked to give large sums of taxpayer's money to places like the Maldives who insist that they will be submerged?
As I understand it, it's not so much the bergs, but the vast amounts of snow and ice presently on land but which would flow into the ocean if it melted.
"the icebergs are the tiniest of pimples". Most ice is not in the form of icebergs.
The Antarctic Ice Sheet contains 30 million cubic kilometers (7.2 million cubic miles) of ice: 70% of Earth's freshwater and 90% of its ice.
TheChair; //The Antarctic Ice Sheet contains 30 million cubic kilometers (7.2 million cubic miles) //

Is anyone predicting a total meltdown of the entire icecaps? I think not.
No, not all of the ice caps. Just enough to cause total havoc.
//Just enough to cause total havoc.// and scare the pants off you enough to cough up billions to dodgy regimes?
"I think not."
Yes, I've gathered that.
I had Luc Montagniers obit removed - - because he was dead, it might offend mimsy ABers early in the day.
Lordy !

Obvious climate change caused the recent crop of weather disasters, but hey you are allowed your opinion so long as you dont hold govt office. so long as you dont use Gavin WIlkinson language
The Chair; //The Antarctic Ice Sheet contains 30 million cubic kilometers (7.2 million cubic miles) //

But if the vast majority of that ice is below sea level , please see here;

https://ibb.co/h8LRHVs

then as it melts it will become 9% less in volume thereby creating a 'void' which will be replaced be surrounding sea water, so in fact the sea level could, if anything, drop .
Antarctica is a land mass so much of the ice cap is sitting on land. Same for Greenland.

The process of melting, density change of water, rise in landmass as weight comes of it, etc is complex but I tend to believe the overwhelming percentage of scientists across a variety of disciplines when they say that the recent acceleration in global warming is man-made and is causing sea levels to rise.
Any money would be better spent adapting to any climate change rather than trying to stop it, which is just about impossible, like trying to stop the tides coming in.
Khandro: your reply contains two errors.
1. The image you have linked is if an ice floe, which is formed when surface water in the ocean freezes, whereas Antarctica is a landmass covered in ice.
2. When the temperature rises above 4 degrees, the water will start to expand.
what's that about untitled? Not going to watch half an our video.
it is a recording of margaret thatcher addressing the united nations in november 1989.... the written version of her speech is available here:

her finest speech as far as i am concerned!
